I don't say this is rubbish at all! This isn't crap at all either! It's Karl Hahn at his best! He and McCarter infiltrate a base full of ex-military mercenaries!. Sure there's the racism, but what do expect it's 1980's South Africa! Not the good old Stars & Stripes! Anyway this is pretty good. I have only writing reviews for certain books depending on when I read them. So this is pretty good because it's UNIQUE PLOT!!! Have you ever read a book that talks about a spec-ops team working with a condemned nation? No? Well then that's how it scores it's eight out of ten. -
This was a pretty good book. We finally, 7 books later, learn more about Manning's personal life and dedication to his lovers. Why an 8? Because Manning seems to take the round character position while the rest take flat roles. Secondly, Nemtala was pretty cool. They killed her off earlier than they should have. I say... "A good read!" -
Horrible! William Fieldhouse really missed with this one! I know a good cover when I see one, but between it, it was an EPIC FAIL!!!! The only good part was the fighting between heads of the remains of the Mafia, MERGE. That pulls it to three stars instead of the one star I was gonna give it. Where to start... Oh yeah! The politician being murdered like that wouldn't happen. Usually they had some realism in these. And I don't care if Calvin is the "Black Badass!" Oh yeah, the last part of the book, the sea fight between the self-styled Don and Encizo was pretty good. As usual Fieldhouse covers up bad plots with great action! 4/10 -
Wow! Mike Linaker landed his place within the Phoenix Force author hall of fame with his first in the series. Just wow! He put a very believable and original plot to work with this. And he has McCarter captured by the goddamn cowards that call themselves humans. I say... "One of the best in the series!" I highly recommend this book! -
Wow! One of the best books in the series. I have read this book about dozen times in the past two years that I've been reading this series. Quite a few of Fieldhouse's books in the series are over dragged and very long or boring. But Fieldhouse's ingenious idea of putting GSG-9 anti-terrorist badass Karl Hahn into the series, well, was EPIC!!!!! I highly recommend any of the Karl Hahn books, not just this one. Tovarishchi Navsegda! -
I have read all the normal Phoenix Force books, and I have to say, this is probably the best one ever. It featured a lot of action, leaving near nothing to be desired. The Dragon Slayer is epic compared to books featuring aero-craft induction, like the Wingman series. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to read and picture something featuring neo-Nazis and unconventional jungle warfare. 100/10
