Not bad... To be honest, if you hadn't read any of the Bolans that featured these characters, you'd know practically nothing of them from this book.Lots of action and more backstory about the villains (and some of the hostages) than the heroes. Pol turns himself in, and despite trying to track him, they lose him. Lyons also gets captured.So for a first outing on their own, Able team didn't do all that well. I loved the Able series when I was younger, but to be honest, I hardly remember any of them so rereading them now seems like fresh eyes with just a bit of nostalgia.This one really didn't "do it" for me but not all the Bolans do either, though occasionally there are some gems. Worth reading, but I doubt it'll burn itself into your memory.

A rather forgettable entry to the series. I see I wasn't the only one who caught the Barretta screw up. The person Bolan is supposed to be guarding is so obviously a bad guy, I wondered why we were supposed to care. Later when he is revealed to be said bad guy, not exactly a surprise. The action scenes were the only saving grace. The ending with Grimaldi seems like a cheap plot device thought up at the last moment. Ok read. but certainly not among the best.

Very fun and easy read. A little off the beaten path for Bolan, less body count, more of a cop-crime vibe. Found it strange that Gadgets wasn't even mentioned in passing seeing that this is only one novel away from Able Team getting their own series. You can tell it's a new writer, but by no means a bad writer. I tend to judge these novels on two different criteria, story, and readability. Story is mediocre and maybe a 6 or 7, but readability is 9 or 10. So I guess I'll call it an 8. Glad to see this author wrote several others.

After the first third of this one, I was ready to give it a 2 or 3. After the middle third, I was ready to give it a 4 or 5. But i must admit, somehow it just got more exciting as it went and I ended at a seven. I agree with the other reviews that it it is very slow to start. The story is interesting enough, but the prose just doesn't "flow" very well. By the middle it felt like I was reading Pendleton, by the end it reminded me of New War. So overall, I guess it was ok. Maybe a bit generic, but readable enough for the whopping dollar I paid for it.

Great book! After reading a bunch of these in my youth, I decided to start re-reading them in my late 40's. I started with the mafia wars which I hadn't read at all when I was younger. Some were good, some were not so good, but by number 30 in the series, I had to skip into the gold eagles my nostalgia longed for. Some of the Mafia wars were good (Colorado and Jersey being my favorites so far), however, Pendleton seemed to struggle a bit with the pacing in many titles. Often it seemed like it was all set up for a great showdown but the magic page 180 was coming up so he almost brushed over the main fights. This titles pacing seemed great in comparison. I tore through it on a few hours and was left reminded of why I liked the series so much in my youth. Great action. Shame this author only did one.
