Blood Heat Zero

Good read this time around where the Big Guy has decided to take some unplanned R & R in Iceland of all places. No one is aware of his plans which were made at the last instance so the Big Guy gets a little pissed off when someone tries to kill him for the fourth time and he becomes determined to find out what the hell is going on and why this is happening and who in fact is trying to take him out. Following on he decides to take a kayak trip along an underground river after lowering himself through a sink hole in the ice. Excellent reading follows and I found it hard to put the title down for quite a few chapters through this section. Eventually it is revealed who is doing what and what they are trying to cover up and of course the Big Guy is positioned perfectly to snuff out their grand plans permanently. Good read here and recommended reading in the series.

Not one of the better Mack Bolan books. Still wondering why Iceland would be a choice for a vacation? And once it was, how about a map, as most of us if we know the location of Iceland certainly know little of it. One reviewer mentions dialogue, and that is one other problem, too much dialogue. As with all Bolans we read them and enjoy them, but with different writers the style and tone continually change. This is a readable and enjoyable book, but not for anyone unfamiliar with Mack Bolan books.

This was the first Executioner I ever read. I usually like R&R stories, as they often provide more insight into the character. This was not the case here, and as a (then) Bolan beginner, it was a disappointment, because I wanted to really know Mack Bolan. I liked the book however, although it's just an average entry in the series, and it comes across as a little detached. On the positive side, the book did manage to hold my interest enough to make me want to continue my exploration of Bolan. I just wouldn't recommend "Blood Heat Zero" as a first read, as there are dozens in the series one could start with before reading this one.

You need to read Sunscream first to understand the motivation with the Russian Antonin. This was one of the most unusual Bolan books I have read. This is also a rather difficult read since it is almost all description and very little dialogue. For dialogue probably the least of any Bolan book I have read. Also the details with the kayak and the shooting a lot is going. Its not like a shootout on the streets - its easy to imagine roads. A fast moving river with ice, lava, waterfalls and gunfights you need to read it carefully. The two agents were rather dull but noble. I couldn't believe the ending where the female agent's partner is dead and she is trying to get in Mack's pants. That seemed a bit unbelievable and rather cold. Along with being juvenile. That is my one real knock against the book. Mack and his friends descent and plans for blowing up the cave was very well written and very exciting. Overall one of the best Leslie novels.

Mack Bolan in my home country Iceland. What a hrill....... at least for the first 20 pages or so with exciting arrived in Iceland and four attempts on Bolan´s life during the beginning. After this explosive start the book became rather dull with more effort put into describing Iceland in general than making a great plot and interesting action and this book becomes a bit like Mack Bolan nr. 50, which is another dull R&R story. The author goes rather freely with certain facts about Reykjavík and Iceland in general as there were several wrong statements in the book like there hasn´t been a Danish restaurant in Reykjavík, Keflavík airport is not an airfield but an international airport, there is no mention about the American army base in Keflavík, wrong names of hotels and some even have never existed here and perhaps the most bizzare statement in the book is that murder rate goes up with increasing darkness!!!!!! I wonder where he got this information from???? Perhaps the author never expected that someone from Iceland would read the book...........

Another Peter Leslie thrill ride. One of the wierder pieces of art for the series, but its good. The last adventure before Bolan goes to jail!
