Savannah Swingsaw

At first I didn’t think I would like this one just off the title. But I was wrong. Once I suspended my belief on way he is chosen to go to jail to protect someone, I really enjoyed all the jail chapters and the ones leading to it. All of the characters were pretty well developed. And the action was brutal and fun to read. I would have rated this one a nine if it was not for the description of Shawnee as the most beautiful girl Bolan had ever seen. Kinda throws all the previous women and April Rose to the side. And the villain being described as Bolans most dangerous opponent undercuts all the others, especially when he was nothing special. I really did like the Bondian two color eyes. All in all this one surprise me and I loved it

While I didn't necessarily like this author's previous two entries, this was a very entertaining book. Bolan starts off in prison to help a young computer wizard who is the target of a KGB assassination plan. With the assistance of a former ally, Bolan and the computer wizard escape. For the remainder of the story, the stay one step ahead of the KGB and mafia. The action is consistent throughout the end of the book, with several memorable scenes scattered throughout. Enjoyable read!

Very good plot and storyline this time around with this author certainly his best work in the series. From the start you will be wondering as the Big Guy is arrested by the cops for a hold up which nets him all of less than two hundred dollars and finds himself in a prison cell. A visit from his lawyer (Hal) begins to shed light on what is happening as the KGB's best, most ruthless assassin Zavlin has been assigned a new target for immediate elimination. The puzzling part is that the target of the assassin is a kid who has been arrested for embezzlement of the record store he was working at. Initially the Big Guy has to locate the kid in the prison and not only protect him from the other criminals in the prison but enable an escape with him to set up a sting where the assassin can be taken down. Lots and lots of good characters introduced in this section of the title and some good action scenes to be read as well. Bugger just when everything is coming together the Big Guy is snatched away from the prison by a group of females who have been terrorizing a local Mafia capo as one of them recognizes the Big Guy from when she served with him in Vietnam. The plot thickens, the assassin gets closer and closer action scenes crank up, suspense cranks up oh yeah this is a good read folks. Hal gets into the action scenes here in a good and timely manner and also features in the ending section. The climax with the capo is excellent stuff and certainly a bit of poetic justice for what he has done previously in the title. Very enjoyable read certainly recommended reading.

WOW...............Bolan in prison and some ladies break him out of it!!! This storyline was just too good to be true so I really had to get that book and with great anticipation I read it and well...........the book rocked BIG TIME. The idea of Bolan entering a prison on a bogus charge just to save a teenager from a KGB assassination was a great and fresh idea and a change from the usual terrorist or arms dealer of the month. The characters were very interesting in the book....Shawnee was a cool partner who could kick some ass and I wonder if she will ever appear in another Bolan book? Clip Demonies was a very nasty and cold hearted mafia boss and not one of those careless and cocky ones from the early mafia war books. Zavin, the KGB assassin was a great character who should have been explored a bit more in the book and it would have been great to have him popping up later on in a future books instead of getting killed and last but not least................Hal Brgonola in live action saving Bolan from a near death of the hands of Clip!!!! The plot is a stunning one yet too relatistic with reference to the work issues today but I will not reveal the plot details here so that I will not spoild someones reading of this book. Yes, this book had it all..............stunning plot, fresh story line, very interesting characters and hardly a weak point from the first page to the last one. Read this near perfect Bolan book and you should not be disappointed with it!!!!!!!!!!! (2004)

Mack Bolan goes undercover in prison to protect a college kid the KGB has marked for death. Why? We'll find out in chapter 16. Meanwhile a group of 4 attractive women improbably calling themselves "Savannah Swingsaw" has been putting a hurt on the local mob facilities but they take time out to rescue Bolan because one of them used to know him. Plot thickens from here. Bolan is good here though he still seems to have to terrible knack of hooking up with annoying female characters. Shawnee is not as bad as April Rose or Toby Ranger though so things are looking up. There is action spaced throughout the book and it all is pretty good. From some fights in jail and some shootouts through the final removal of the villains the action is solidly written. My only reservation has to do with the ridiculous blowgun contraption used by a Bolan ally in a fight. The main villain is moderately interesting but doesn't seem like enough of a threat to justify Bolan's and the writer's view of him. I liked the character touches but I have to wonder how sharp that branding iron was if a guy could jam it through his heart by just running into it. The mob chief was not interesting at all except that he was dressed like some kind of weird preppy, complete with white sweater tied around his neck. He could have been menacing but he was too much of a bigmouth fop. In the words of Tuco, "When you have to shoot, shoot. Don't talk." The plot kind of just meanders along and when it gets where it was going you won't believe any writer thought it was worth the trip. The 6 stars here are pretty much only for the action.

Liked this one.This was my first introduction to Shawnee,liked the insight into MB's past that it gave me.

Another typical Obstfeld tale, with interesting characters along with the goofy names. I liked the first half of the book better, I liked the prison scenes, It was interesting to see how Bolan would handle being in jail. I agree with Glenn, I think the plot should have been revealed sooner, but the book was entertaining.

The first half of the book was good, but the second half was a let down. The two worst points in the book was where Brognola moaned about not being involved with the Stony Man Farm anymore, and yet he was fully active in the Phoenix Force/Able Team novels. The other point is where the book cover advertises a world threatening plot, and yet it is all revealed and blown away within the last few pages. It would have been better for the plot to be revealed to the readers (or at least part of it) earlier on so that we knew that Bolan was on a tighter deadline than what he thought. A average entry for the Executioners Lone Wolf wars.

A decent enough story, too bad the girls never made a return visit into the world of the Executioner.

SLAM BANGING ACTION ALL THE WAY. THE CHICKS WERE SUPER COOL IN THIS ONE! TOO BAD THEY WERE NEVER BROUGHT BACK AGAIN.I GIVE THIS ****1/2. THE PRISON FIGHT WAS PRETTY INTENSE AS WELL.

One of my personal faves. You got the Big guy, You got mountains and wilderness, you got guns,vehicles,cabins,fire,death destruction AND CHICKS WHO OPEN A CAN OF 100% WHOOP ASS! who could ask for anything more.. 4.5 Shotgun Shells outta five..HELL!!!! 5 yes..5!!! SHELLS!! READ THIS ONE FOLKS!

Shawnee's return was good, but the book overall was a yawner.
