The Persian Gulf has become a fire-stormed oil slick as the Iran-Iraq war rages throughout the Middle East. When the U.S. begins escorting supertankers through the Gulf, it, too, becomes a target, and there are those in the U.S. Congress who say the United States is nothing more than a sitting duck. Phoenix Force is dispatched to Kuwait to learn if the violence is an act of state-sponsored terrorism - or the work of independent fanatics - before the U.S. declares open war on Iran. Suddenly Katz and his men find themselves up against the Purple Warriors of Righteousness, and extremist Shiite cult dedicated to carrying out their suicide mission - to deliver America to the fires of hell!

This book reminded me alot of PF#11 Return to Armageddon.Not one of Fieldhouse's best books but still passable. One thing though I wish that Phoenix would land and a military base when they travel overseas. It seems like every time they land at a civilian airport all hell breaks loose. Over all I give this book a an 8 star rating.

Another great Fieldhouse book, somewhat by the numbers for him but still very enjoyable. Features what I think is the goofiest name of an enemy ever, the Purple Warriors of Righteousness!! Again evil Islamic Extremeists messing with American interests! But very good action and suspense throughout!

Well I bagged this author for his last offering China Command which I thought was rubbish and even though it is almost twenty years ago it's like he heard me in the past and has served up here an absolute gem. This is fantastic! especially if you like action scenes this is basically non stop action but he also manages to insert a good/believable plot and terrific ongoing storyline. The descriptions of the places where the Team visit is fine reading and the background information on the countries seems to be inserted seamlessly as I never thought I was reading an atlas. Not much else I can say except grab this and read it, it will blow you away. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED reading !

This story was written before the gulf war, and takes place in the small countries in that area. Fieldhouse did a good job with describing the Islamic fanatacism that leads to freaks like Bin Laden. This book packs more of a punch now than it would have if I had read it when the novel first came out. Full of the usual PF action, the force and some arab allies mop up the fanatic terrorists that follow the Bin Laden clone in this story. And it has a funny Moment when Manning realizes he is eating a pidgeon. A solid all around PF novel, even though it has some editorial gaffs here and there I'm giving this book an 8.
