Mondays Mob

I give this book a 7 star rating. Good start to the last mile of Mack's mafia war.liked the introduction of April Rose and Her and Mack's interaction together. Beyond that really nothing to set this book apart from the others. Really liked the front cover.

We begin the Second Mile. After getting the offer of a lifetile from Wonderland, Bolan defers acceptance for six days. Why? To finish off the mob, of course! Enter April Rose, a beautiful genius thrust into Mack's life as partner and baby sitter. From the start, I have a love/hate relationship with this character. At times, she seems to be a strong female protaganist and likely love interest for our hero. Her dialog is at times sharp and insightful, and her banter with Mack flows well. At other times, she is one dimensional, whiny and in need of a garrote round her neck. It seems like her character must have been difficult to write, because her attitudes and moods fluctuate so freely, as if Mr. Pendleton (and future authors) are never quite sure what to do with her from one scene to another. Finally, the enemies are average, and do not really inspire fear. During this story, I found myself agreeing with Hal that the Mafia is defunct and no longer requires Bolan to handle them.

This book was slightly above average. There were some enjoyable aspects: introdcution of April Rose, increased involvement from Hal, and the beginning of the "final week." However, I didn't find the story line all that intriguing, nor was I all that impressed with the mid-western mafia. As this final week gets started, the stage is set for some terrrific stories, but this when fell a little short for me.

The last mile the final week of the never ending war which if he survives will see the Big Guy stage his own death and after plastic surgery take up his new position as leader of the SOG group and working for the President and Government with full immunity for past crimes. Enter the one and only April Rose a drop dead gorgeous lady who is destined to take away the Big Guy's heart and become his one and only true love. But not initially and some very good reading to be had here as their relationship starts and gradually starts to warm towards each other until. The moment of truth for April Rose came when she saw Mack Bolan transform himself from Mr. Quiet and Gentle to Mr. Executioner. The black outfit—how symbolic !—the combat rig with all those grim weapons of death, the sudden coldness in those deep, deep eyes and the panther like grace of his movements as he prepared for his mission. She can't handle it and starts to question and moralize the Big Guy on his tactics and taking of lives which unsurprisingly doesn't go down to well and nearly results on him calling Hal to get rid of her. Anyway the title takes over where a Boss has called several of his fellow Bosses into a secluded retreat with the intention of trying to pull things back together like the old days with himself appointed as the Boss of all Bosses. Approaching the hidden retreat the Big Guy notices a prisoner being man handled out of a car and taken inside who is none other than April Rose. An obvious change of tactics is called for and some very fine reading follows with some good action scenes featuring the fabulous War Wagon and pressure being brought to bear on the soldiers trapped there with their bosses. The finish is stunning in what happens and you should certainly read this one. Highly recommended reading.

Enter April Rose. Some 15 years ago I began slowly parceling out what I call the Pendleton 38 (I know he didn't write one of them)and it's been slow going while life and 5000 other books have crossed my line of sight. And I've heard about April over the years, too. Vowing not to read any of the non-Pendleton books until I'd finished the first 38, I had not encountered the lady love of Mack's life. Until now. Monday's Mob was a very enjoyable Bolan. April makes a profound impression on him right from the get go, which got me thinking of that great cover down the line where she lies dead in Mack's arms. I'm very interested in seeing how this relationship pans out. As for the book, it's clear that Bolan has done major damage to the mob and his "mopping up" operation does more of the same. This first of that famous week of terror really moves the story along and it's refreshing to see a clear sense of direction in the books. I'm a fan of the one book, one adventure part of the series, but it's a nice change of pace to see the books going somewhere. This is a fine Bolan adventure. Can't wait to see what Tuesday holds...

This book is absolutely great. It was the first Pendleton Executioner i read and it really blew me away. i really liked the introduction of April Rose and the times that Bolan and April argue. I wish there were more discussions like that in the newer Bolans, cause they really add a lot of depth to the characters. The Action is great too, except that the end is not quite as explosive as the cover depicts.

I really enjoyed this book. While some parts seemed a little slow to me, the end really made up for it. In this book April Rose is introduced for the first time. I felt that she adds a really interesting facet to the story. Mack Bolan and her were able to have some long and drawn out conversations that gave the reader insight into both characters.

This one introduced some tension that had been missing in the series in recent titles. An urgency to get one more week to kick mafia butt. A great start to the week.

Mondays Mob was my first Mack Bolan book. It was so great I was instantly hooked. I now have over 190 Mack Bolan books in my collection. This is a must have in any true executioner fan's collection.

The first step on The Executioner's second offensive against the mafia kicks off with a patented Bolan sniper hit in this great book. Bolan is out to ruin the mob in the heartland and he moves fast and hard to do it. This book finds the big guy with a partner, a lady fed supplied by Hal to look after the war wagon and its intel. Does she have what it takes to survive in the hellgrounds? Bolan has to find out quickly. And so does she. After the opening hit Bolan moves to a penetration of a mob site, dons his mafia disguise to move things along, and finally engages a huge mafia force in their lair as he tries to secure his mission objectives and save his new partner. The action is good, especially in the last quarter of the story when they arrive at the mafia retreat. Nice to see Bolan going EVA and taking the fight in close for a while and use the .460 Weatherby rather than just launch rockets this time. The interplay between Bolan and April gives Pendleton a chance to get some more of the big guy's philosophy into the story, which is always a sign of a great Executioner book for me. If the rest of the six-days-war books are this good I'm going to be handing out a lot of tens. I'll start right here: ten stars to this well paced adventure.

A REALLY GOOD BEGINNING TO THE CLIMATIC END OF THE MAFIA WARS. IT WAS ALSO A COOL INTRODUCTION TO BOLAN'S ALL TIME LEADING LADY APRIL ROSE.THE FACT THAT SHE WAS NEARLY AS GUTSY AS HIM MADE HER AN EXCELLENT BOLAN ALLY AND THEIR WORKING TOGETHER FOR THE FIRST TIME MADE ME WANT TO SALUTE THE FUTURE OF THE BOLAN SERIES. DEFINATELY A PLEASER!!!!!
