Renegade Force

Bolan takes on a number of cells of an extremist right wing network of ex lawmen who are actively eliminating anyone they deem to be undesirable. The typical Schmidt style of Bolan blitz of explosions and buckets of blood paint the action scenes throughout the novel. As Bolan moves from cell to cell, he picks up an ally along the way, effectively making this a two-man destruction squad for much of the story. The author made it obvious at one point that Daly was not going to live to the end of this blitz. It was like he was saying hey, we all know this ally is going to be killed off, so lets drop big clues right into the story that he was about to die. For me, the scenes in between the action were the better parts of the story, and the balance between the villain's perspectives and Bolan's was just right. For a superBolan the plot was rather simple, but there were a multitude of main and sub villains to fill out the larger story. I liked the part where Shyrock had dirt on the politician that was bankrolling the whole movement and called in to the tv show to intimidate him. Scenes such as this kept the book from being a stale hit list story. Overall, not a bad read, but no where as good as Code of Bushido was.

I really enjoyed this one, I guess the plot got me in where ex cops, special force types and right-wing extremists are banding together into a group called Deliverance financed by someone which will surprise you later on in the title to return America to it's prime before the people they are targeting were an issue. The problem is that the people they are targeting are all ethnics and it quickly becomes apparent that deep down this group is running on racial bigotry white supremacy lines but have no qualms about ripping off drug stashes and money stashes from their victims to add to their war chests. Through a good initial tie in the Big Guy is on the case with an excellent ally this time and they are on the trail of the New York cell of Deliverance which is off to join all the other cells at their main compound. What follows is some of the better action scenes you will read where the Big Guy and his ex special forces/ex cop ally run through them like a red hot knife through butter. The bad guys take off again and again but are always found how? (read it). The final assault on the command base was strange as I have read many times where the Big Guy has done stuff like this before solo (there are only 60 - 70 for goodness sake) but no Brognola organises an eight man team backup for assistance and basically they didn't bloody do anything apart from having fancy code names so what was the point? For fans of the Ultra Violent the author does not disappoint as 95% of kills are head shots giving birth to wonderful descriptions of heads exploding like melons, blood sprays, bone fragments flying along side body parts, rivers of blood after grenade explosions it's all here folks. After all that a very good read and recommended reading.

This was a good, fast-paced read and I enjoyed it, but overall "Renegade Force" wasn't one of the best. I picked it because I liked the sound of the premise - a network of ex-cops conspiring with cops, federal agents and other law enforcement officials fed up with the system and taking the law into their own hands. However, things get muddled because the bad guys seem motivated as much by outright racism, which made it harder to identify with them. Also the story never really delivers its big payout - instead of a vast brotherhood, the organization is basically just a bunch of guys in different cities who all band together when Bolan comes after them. There's no big payoff where Bolan has to hunt down the traitorous FBI agents or Justice Department bigwigs who are in on the conspiracy. Basically "Renegade Force" seems like it was meant to be an entry in the Executioner series but got padded out to SuperBolan length. It's worth a read for action fans, but there are better ones in the series.

something about his SuperBolan just wasnt so super. i was booored. and as far as i was into the novel i still put it down (a no-no for me after reaching the halfway point). not saying it was awful...just wasnt for me. something about it just didnt taste right.

A fairly entertaining book, much better than I expected it to be. Once again, we have Schmidt having some sort of traitors as the bad guys. In this case, former cops who have gone rogue. Mack has to adjust his long-standing vow never to fire upon a man with a badge, no matter how corrupt and slimy they are. His takedown of these racist SOB's is classic Executioner style. He has them running for their lives and running scared. Some pretty good action scenes were mixed in, too. The underground garage shootout was pure mayhem, and the Penn. turnpike chase was extremely tense. Add to the mix of a cop out for revenge joining Bolan had some nice touches.

A first-rate effort by Schmidt with an excellent combination of action, plot and character development, particularly with Daly, one of the better tragic figures in the Bolan canon. Vigiliante tales are common in this genre but rarely are they better presented than here. A great effort.

This is an exceptional Bolan novel. I liked how this story showed what Bolan may have been like if his war with the mafia was about blind hatred. Stanton and his Deliverence buddies on the surface wanted what Mack wanted in his mafia war. But scratch the surface and this was really about blind hatred and vigilantism that was about racial superiority and they didn't care if innocents or good cops died in their way. Basically vigilantism without a conscience combined with racial hatred. I like the character Daly and how he wanted justice like Mack did when his family died but Daly let his desire for justice eat him alive and turn his desire into a suicide run. Yes his death was foreshadowed with how reckless he was. I did wish Daly had lived but him living would have made no sense since he really wanted not just revenge but he didn't really care about living and wanted to be with his dead wife and son. The action was quite good and intelligent in terms of killing of the Deliverence people a chunk at a time so they would lead Mack to HQ. The book gets a 10 for characters and how Stanton and Deliverence was a Bolan and a Stony Man but went down the path of hate and lack of conscience. For Daly a Bolan but one who self-destructed and who sought his own death to kill Stanton. Plus good logical action. Schmidt's best book I have read since his earlier novel Devil's Horn. DH is still an overall better novel but as a Bolan novel this is a 10 novel.

I enjoyed the heck out of this Superbolan. Dan S. knows how to describe hard people making hard choices who die the hard way. Giving Bolan a partner was an interesting touch. It was great seeing Bolan hunt a group of thugs in a state to state slaughter fest. A solid offering from Dan S.

First off, a disclaimer. I'm not a big fan of the SuperBolan books, they tend to be a little long-winded and repetitive for my taste. However, of the SBolan's that I have read, this is by far one of the better novels. The addition of the Daly character was a welcome one, and I think he added a lot to the story. The cross country chase scene(s) seemed to drag a little bit, but the action definitely picked up at the end for the typical Bolan ending. If you aren't a fan of the SuperBolans, then stay away from this one altogether. However, if you are, this book is as good as any I've read.

I am reading the book right now and I like it. I like the part where he takes his grenade launcher and blows the warehouse away and also the Cocaine.

GOOD ACTION AND A GOOD STORY KEPT IT MOVING ALONG NICELY. I REALLY LIKED THE DALY CHARACTER. TOO BAD HE COULDN'T HAVE BEEN KEPT AROUND, HE WOULD'VE MADE A NICE ADDITION TO THE STONY MAN GROUP.

This is a good SuperBolan i've read in a long time. It's about time they start cranking out more good books by Dan Schmidt. Schmidt does a great job of character building, Action, and has a very good story line. Also the cover is really well done. Pick it up at your local bookstore!!

A great book by Dan Schmidt...I loved it. Great detail and good character usage, I hope Dan starts writing more regularly, if this is the type of material he turns out..

The Daly guy was a neat spirit of vengeance. His find shootout whas way cool.
