Acapulco Rampage

I really liked the beginning. With the execution of the Mob guys at poolside with the Weatherby. I always like when Mack uses this weapon. Other than that the book kind of fizzled for me. 6 stars.

Suddenly Acapulco appeared as a major port for heroin and cocaine movements. Then there were rumbles about the international traffic in top-grade party girls, with Acapulco centering as the route of entry into the jet set and all that implied. Finally, via a watchful eye the Big Guy realises it's a take over from the North who have been eyeing what is going on. As quick as he finds out what is going on he literally blows the house down and the title has finished. Not sure if Don was in a hurry here when he wrote this one to get to something else but I would have to say that this one left me feeling pretty unfullfilled at the end where I kept thinking to myself is that it? Read better in the series than this one.

This was a good overall read from Pendleton. I do think his previous to this 5 efforts were much better. Bolan does perform a series of kill missions in Acapulco. He quickly befriends some alliances and runs into old friends ... which I like. The setup to the ending of the book is done well, although it seemed like Pendleton could've built it up a bit more. I did love the way Bolan taunts the local mobster ... yacht, airplane, etc. It was classic Executioner action.

Seriously , this one kicked ass ! I was dissapointed with a couple before this, but this one really worked for me. It starts alot like Canadian Crisis - Bolans gonna bust up a Mob Meet in a foreign land, then after a while it gets real interesting ! There's a little truce between Bolan and a local mobster, a mysterious woman, a washed up film star and Bolan destroying planes yachts and mansions. I liked the little mystery in the middle, Bolan investigating a crime scene and trying to track down a traitor, I thought it was great little addition. Eh Kay says Check it out !

I wish more of the books in this time period were written as good as this one. I enjoyed every moment of it.

One of my favourite Bolan books. I thought it was great to see Bolan burn down Martha Canada near the end, then free a female Fed who told him to keep his paws to himself. Another topnotch outing.

The Executioner decides to shake the mob away from the swinging town of Acapulco before they can move in and take over the local crime scene. He starts with a ong range kill mission, moves to get the local strong-man's attention, and leaves destruction as he goes. There isn't a lot of the typical Bolan big hit action in this one, instead there is some spectacular stunt type activity from the big guy. Not bad but some more gunplay instead would have snared this story another star. None of the folks Bolan encounters will be unforgettable to the reader. The action is OK but not top notch Pendleton. All in all while I enjoyed this tale I thought it was only a 7 star effort.

This story is a very easy read, it is a very laid back Bolan adventure, where nobody works up a sweat, not even the bad guys. The story is a very standard Bolan hit the Mafia, so no suprises there. I did get the feeling, as I have had reading other original Bolan's, that the end was rather rushed, and everthing is wrapped up too quickly in the last chapter. This book is defiantly for thoses lazy days of sitting in the summer sun.
