Colorado Kill-Zone

Wow! What a outstanding entry. Right from the first page This book had me hooked. Good plot great characters and Mack taking it to the bad guys from inside there own base camp. My only complaint was Harrleson getting away. Hopefully their paths will cross again in a future novel. 9 star book.

Something was going on in Colorado but the Big Guy just couldn't figure out what. After days of fruitless investigation he decides to show himself and try to drag the opposition out of hiding. And, yeah, it was quite an operation. Too much, perhaps, for too little. Bolan simply could not believe that such a formidable force had been organized for the sole purpose of stopping the Executioner's war. There had to be more to it than that. These guys were operating openly, brazenly—masquerading as a bona fide U.S. military force, utilizing restricted radio channels for their communications, riding around in "official" vehicles and arming themselves with modern weaponry from the U.S. arsenal—and the hell of it all was that they were pulling it off flawlessly. An engagement occurs with devastating losses to the opposition but the Big Guy is distraught agonizing over the fact that he has killed soldiers of the same side and cannot see how he can possibly continue his war after making such a tragic mistake. Sitting back and watching the clean up from the opposing force he follows them back to their secret camp and a soft probe follows where dog tag details, fingerprints, photographs etc. are taken and forwarded to Brognola for authentication on who the enemy actually is. This is the big one a plot to kidnap the President of the United States and his family and hold them hostage for a ransom. Now aware of who he is up against the Big Guy launches his offensive against the forces marshalled to take down the President and in a somewhat unfortunately brief ending sends them into a rapid retreat saving the day again. Good read here and certainly one to recommend but gee it would have been even better to read a longer ending section (if ever a title was suited for a "super" release here is one).

This is a great book and a foundation-setting story. With book 25, Pendleton continues to develop Bolan as a usable force to the country. I'm really torn whether to go 9 or 10 stars. I'll probably lean toward 9 because of the relative ease that Bolan completely dissembled this great paramilitary plan at the end of the story. Great plot...Bolan is lured to Colorado and soon finds he's up against quite a bit more than the standard mafia thugs. He's not only pitted against a top-notch military group, he's familiar with the adversary and even commends their abilities. To make matters worse, Bolan is not even the main target, rather they have much bigger plans and a much bigger target. The battle scenes are great, and I love how the author continues to describe the exceptional way Bolan infiltrates the opposition. Up against such tremendous odds, Bolan again stealthily joins the enemy military force and one-by-one destroys their plan. Lastly, Pendleton's use of Leo and Hal is again phenomenal. I really enjoy seeing the size of their impact and involvement in these stories, and I wish the current writers would use more of them. In Colorado Kill-Zone, we see a tremendous foreshadowing of things to come when "the man" knows who it was that really saved he and his family.

What a great read! This book had a nice twist to it and was an absolute pleasure to read. The only downside was that it seemed Harrelson abandoned his mission a little too easily at the end. As I was nearing the end of this I was almost expecting it to say "To be continued" with the struggle he was facing. Obviously time constraints caused that but I really think this could have been a two-parter with a big showdown between the two adversaries at the end.

This book is my favorite. First Mack blows up a convoy with the Warwagon, then thinks it might have been the army. Mack has second thoughts all through out this one not knowing if he is up against the mafia or the army. This one also puts Executioner vs Executioner one on one. Macks executioner style old buddy from Nam is the one leading the so called army. With a little help from Leo and Hal he gets through quickly. This is a very smooth read with a lot of action.

Why do I keep reading these Mafia war book? Perhaps to torture myself or with hope that finally I would get my hands on a good one. All of a sudden it FINALLY happened...............a really good Mafia war book and needless to say this is by far the best one from that period that I have read so far. Why is this one better than the others I have read from the period in the series? The answer is; Outstanding plot, entertaining storyline, interesting characters, never a dull moment and last but not least the amazing nerve that Bolan displays when he infiltrates the enemy force and works within the group to shatter it with stealth and calmness. . The plot of luring Bolan to Colorado to hunt him down as an exercise for the real mission was a great twist and using a former military officer as the hunter was kind of a cool way for this cat and mouse game. I wonder if Harrelson will make good on his treat against Bolan in some future book? It would be cool to have a one on one fight between those two!!!! One of the highlights of the book is the fact that it seems like Bolan was questioning his mission and if the bad guys really were those or just some military outfit trying to bring him to justice. This was the first time that I didn´t try to rush through a Mafia war book just to finish it and really enjoyed this one. It is a real shame that other Mafia war books that I have read so far have not been as great as this one...............but there is hope for this part of the series yet (2004)

I really enjoyed this book. I finished it in less than a day. The action in this book was very good and worked well with Bolan's stealth. The story was woven in such a way that I could not put it down.

Thus far my favorite in the series(that is of what I have read so far). I thought that the mafias plot was a forgone conclusion and that Pendleton did a pretty good job of making it believable. This one proves once and for all that Mack is a hero and a patriot. Great action sequences from beginning to end. I also loved the fact that Bolan was questioning himself as to whether this was a true enemy, or a military operation seeking to bring him to justice. In the end you have to wonder if his capture by the authorities would be justice. Luckily we don't have to find out in this book.

A decent entry, but not great. I love the artwork on the cover, I bought this one at a garage sale in 1981, the first Bolan I owned, but never read it until 85. The artwork sold me on it, I miss Gil Cohen's art, he was the best ever on this series.

I debated about whether this book was a 9 star or a 10 star story but I enjoyed this one so much I just have to give it the full 10 stars. Bolan has been lured to Colorado and set up for a kill by some crack military types. He can't run, he won't negotiate. What else can a man like Mack Bolan do but take the fight to these soldiers? The opening battle between the Executioner and some persuing strike force soldiers is well done. Most of the action in this one is Bolan against these well disciplined troops in the Rockies and it all goes off like a block of C4! Besides the explosive action sequences this story has lots of Bolan recons, probes and intelligence gathering. All very tense and exciting stuff also. Add in Leo and Hal and a plot that involves far more than the mob's attempt to get The Executioner and you've got yourself 10 solid stars of entertainment. I loved this one.

What a great book!! I am 12 years old and had never read Mack Bolan until I walked into a used book store, and started reading this one. Full of action. WARNING: If you have somewher to go, don't read this. HIGHLY ADDICTIVE

An okay entry into the series. The mob's little army of commandos was the most interesting part of the book.

Summer of "76" first Bolan book I read. I was hooked.

A so-so entry.
