Fire Lash

This trilogy starts off with Bolan going after Chinese triads and their secret allies the communists. Going from chinatown to chinatown, Bolan hits San Fransisco, Vancouver, New York City, and ends up in London. Not a whole lot to say about the book, it is a relentless chase through the first three places, mostly Bolan hunting down Luk Pang as he escapes from location to location. Along the way Bolan’s action scenes are many but brief, it seemed like they were the cliff notes versions of the usual scenes Newton likes to write. An ally is picked up in Vancouver, a similar ally helps in New York, and yet another similar one helps in London. This book does not ramp up to any special conclusion, just leaves off ready for the next book in the trilogy, otherwise I would have been disappointed with the ending if it had been a stand alone. Still I expected more, and I was not left really anticipating much for the next book. The events regarding Katz’s retirement from PF are not in this volume, one thing I am looking forward to reading about later in the trilogy.

Mike Newton has written some of the best titles in the series to date unfortunately this is not one of them. Whilst as usual the action scenes are fantastic and plentiful the story line is a rehashed already published change the names and slot them into the story type title. Which has occurred too many times I think. As the first book of a trilogy I was disappointed in this.

The beginning of a fine Trilogy. The action is very fast paced. When Bolan teams up with the Canadian Mountie it really got by blood boiling (read it to figure out why). While the scenes seemed repetitive at times, the action was never sacrificed.

Synopsis : TheRed Dragon Trilogy : Fire Lash This book is about chinese mobster's hooking up with the communist in china, for money and greedy power in the west. Which is what foreign espionage is world wide, every country. The Executioner, takes on a roll of taking out a 'cadre of an elite group' of triad member's in North America, and in London, England. He truly is nothing but a 'brutal executioner' in this book! and I felt bad for one of the north american chacters, while Bolan is in a Waco Rampage! Other then that the saga of making money off of "china white", Hookers, Illegal Alien Trade, mixing that in with foreign spies was a 'well plotted' novel, a 'seed' for the trilogy and you can really tell that you need to read "Steel Claws" to get a closure on the first book of the Trilogy. Which I have page 1 opened right now. Steel Claws set in europe looks good, hopefully the plot thickins and explains in detail the "Deal" with china's goverment agents and these thugs. I like Bolan and his expert team members helping him! Their is nothing like that in this book? But they are on their way to europe.

Action packed from start to finish...what a fast moving rampage this book was! It moved so fast it was dizzying at times...Mack showed absolutely no mercy in this one!

I was disappointed at the plainness of this book.
