Blood Vortex

And so here it is. The final Executioner story. Probably the final ever. It is just a regular adventure. We can't blame the author as he almost certainly did not know at the time of writing. There is no riding off into the sunset here, no deciding to retire, or take it easy for a while, let younger guns handle the weight of the world. Instead we are treated to a blood vortex of near non stop shooting where Bolan never runs out of ammo. The leader of Venezuela (was it El Presidente Chavez still alive or not? I was confused) has a hair brained scheme about gathering representatives of a load of terrorist groups together for a pow-wow and maybe they will all be friends and....do something? So they all show up to a hotel complex in the middle of nowhere. Enter Mack Bolan and an Israeli agent who for some reason is working alone and together they run around shooting and strafing and throwing grenades through bathroom windows until most of the bad guys are dead and then catch a plane flight out of the country. And that really is the story. The author does lay down some impressive knowledge of various terrorist groups but the main problem I have with the story is that so many characters and groups are introduced that I really lost track of who was where and what and why. I manged to remember the Irish, the lady and the army guy in charge but the rest all blurred into one mass and merely became targets for Mack's never ending supply of bullets. As a monthly entry it would have been ok. As it was we waited for six months, get handed an adventure that takes place over a single evening and then The Executioner series ends with a fizzle. Not the author's fault but I think that the publishers had given up the ghost a long time ago. Fortunately for me I have a lot of back issues to work throu, but I can imagine that some folks will be disappointed.
