Desperate to escape conviction, the head of a powerful crime family orders the kidnapping of a federal prosecutor's young daughter. If the mobster isn't freed by the end of the week, if anyone contacts the authorities, the girl will be killed. Backed into a corner, her father must rely on the one man who can help: Mack Bolan. I like the cover, I like the title and that is it. I thought, seeing as how the author, Mike Linaker, died recently that I would give one of his books a go. Maybe I should have picked an early work, because this one was awful. Not only was the prose stilted and the 9 year old girl said unnatural things, but the entire plot was lifted from one of Mike Newton's cookie cutter novels. There is a kidnapping and Bolan decides to set two organised crime outfits against each other to see what happens. Somebody gives Bolan a list of targets to attack and off he goes, blowing up warehouses and attacking porn houses. Just like in Newton's novels. It took me a week to get throu this little novel because I just didn't want to continue. This has put me off Bolan novels for a while, at least until the summer. Dreadful story. Please skip.
