From a vessel off the Hawaiian coastline, North Korea launches a test of its latest tech, a nonnuclear electronic pulse weapon, and cripples a U.S. Coast Guard station. Worried the next attack will cover a larger area and put civilians at risk, the President is determined to kill the project before the threat is realized. Phoenix Force must infiltrate North Korea and destroy the weapon facility, while Able Team flies to the Aloha State to recover the testing equipment before it falls into the wrong hands. But the North Koreans aren't fighting fire with fire, and Stony Man must race to uncover and disengage this covert technology

A straight forward tale involving a super weapon and the teams tracking down the villains. Able Team get sent to Hawaii where the get a bit of a run around before the climax at an airfield. Along the way they get to work with two interesting cops and exchange bullets with some colorful villains. North Korea is i.d. as the big bad early on and so Phoenix are sent to penetrate the country and destroy the pulse weapon. This part of the story was more disappointing as there was no mention of incursions in previous books and the Force didn't even mention being worried at the prospects of going into such a country. There were no twists or turns, it was a regular A to B story, but it wasn't too bad.

More of the same enjoyable reads from Linaker. Able and Phoenix both have their equal time. Able's mission included a couple of good supporting cop characters. Phoenix has to insert into North Korea to rescue two agents and lays waste to the bad guys. Able's mission to stop the bad guys from transporting the EMP device out of Hawaii ended with a blazing shootout at an airfield. Although, I thought the final scene of Able tracking down the police mole was a bit anti-climatic. Phoenix has a ship-to-ship battle, which Linaker has done before, but it's very explosive and fast-paced. A little more POV changes in this book than usual, but overall it's satisfying.
