Fatal Combat

Very good read. Knife wielding cult preys upon the dregs of society. Mafia ties to top it off. I bought into the villains scheme (I mean, I understand it, don't agree with it!). Bolan is out to stop them of course. There were some draw backs, I like the rogue knife fighter Farnham best of all, wish he'd had a larger role in the finale, and Bolan wades through dozens of baddies with ease. However I really liked this entry, great fast read!

Excellent read once again from one of the Master Storytellers writing for these series. Completely original plot (how refreshing is that showing after all these titles it can still be done?) and a drop dead storyline which WILL keep you engrossed throughout if you decide to read this one (which you should do). Civilians are turning up dead from knife wounds of all things and after a number are reported to authorities concern is raised by the POTUS who is concerned about a new Terrorist threat and the Big Guy takes up the case. Enter a world of corruption where most of the cops are on the take where the main bad guy has paid off anyone of any concern and includes the local Mafia Family among his cohorts to call upon at a whim so the Big Guy and his rookie Detective ally are up against a major cast of bad guys. Hardly seems fair does it and you just have to have some sympathy for the Bad Guys :-) Rock and Roll time and the action cranks up from start to finish where at times you WILL have trouble putting this one down to do something else and not saying to yourself just one more chapter. Loved it and could rave on for ages about it but I ain't gonna spoil it for you if you love reading these books, if you love a polished title with a writing style second to none of the contributing authors in these series look no further. HIGHLY recommended reading in this series a 9.8 or 9.9 I reckon DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR and read this one.

Overall, this was a rather boring book. I never really bought into the cult scenario, and there lacked any real character development at all. The attempt to build up the Detroit cop character failed largely. I couldn't wait for this one to end. This was by far my least favorite Bolan book to date.

Elmore's characterization of his supporting cast really shines in this stand out Bolan Blitz. The story opens up with so many different directions to go, part of the ride is figuring out just what kind of Executioner story this is going to be, and watching the layers and possibilities fall away as events progress. My only disappointment is that in a story revolving around knife duelists, we never get to see a proper duel. But by the time I realized I was missing it, the book had crashed to a most satisfying conclusion. Solid characters, natural plot progression, uncertain variables. Great read!

This is a great book. Mack is called in to investigate a series of random murders that the President fears may be a new terrorist tactic. He is teamed up with a rookie Detroit detective and he has to decide whether the detective is a good or bad cop. It is interesting to read Mack going back and forth trying to decide whether to trust the cop or not. Almost immediately Mack and the cop are targeted by the enemy and it leads to some great action. This book had it all good villians-who unlike some books were just local criminals-not out to destroy/rule the world, great action and a good side kick for Mack.
