Blackmarket mayhem. A Somali pirate attack raises a red flag when the stolen cargo is enough to start a civil war. Here is one I had for quite some time and had been waiting to read. A friend of mine kept telling me about "the tanks." Overall, not a very entertaining story. As previously assessed on this website, this was a fairly common storyline. Foreign contact we hope Bolan can trust, mysterious woman from a competitive gov't, etc. The one bright spot of the story is the way in which the author brought 3 groups against one another in competing for the stolen military hardware. The two main opposing groups, and a police force, all combine on the battle scene at the exact time Bolan and company show up. This prep'd for a potentially great finish. However, the final scenes were very vanilla, and the overall story never reached a crescendo, though the ending scene was entertaining.

Well the author was a bit lazy again here where the first two thirds or three quarters of the title is yet again re-release of work that he has done SO MANY TIMES before with the names of the characters and locations changed to protect the identities of the previously published. It's all here the two opposing factions which he attacks blaming it on the other faction. Of course as usual he has the phone numbers of the leaders of these gangs and rings them to taunt them into attacking each other saving him the trouble. Boring boring zzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!! The ending section where the stolen tanks are being held at a compound is actually quite good reading hence two stars added. How many times I have said this I don't know but if you have not read a lot of this authors work you would no doubt enjoy this title but if you have read a lot of his stuff you have already read it unfortunately. Not one to recommend in this series from me.

This was the first Bolan I'd read in a long time. I bought it to read on the plane as well as for old time's sake and basically I thought it was quite good. Bolan is on a mission to Somalia to stop rival gangs from getting hold of pirated Russian tanks.The whole book takes place there but that's fine as the book stuck with Bolan most of the time. He is paired with a female Russian agent and the great thing is they don't get in bed together! I found that refreshing. I'm no Puritan...it's just nice not to waste time on a romantic subplot. Mike Newton did quite a good job of not letting the reader get confused as to who the other characters are, as some authors introduce a character near the beginning then when they bring them in again 20 or so pages later they may need to establish in a few words who this person is again. Newton does this. My neat story is I bought this book in Winnipeg, Canada and when I finished it I left it on a bench in a subway station here in Taipei Taiwan! I wonder who will find it!
